Bird Banding
Bird banding helps biologists learn about bird migration - where they go and how long it takes. Banding also aids in the monitoring of population changes, life spans, variations within species and the impact of habitat and climate changes.
Birds are caught in “mist nets” which stretch almost a mile through Sand Bluff’s prairies and woods. Captured birds are safely transported to the banding station where they are processed and released to continue on their way.
